What each job includes
Empire Tree Care sorts the work they do into groups, so you can find the job that fits the tree in your yard.

Trimming and pruning
These jobs are for trees that stay. Tree trimming & pruning cuts branches back so the tree stays standing and healthy, and tree maintenance is care for trees that are staying, priced from $500. If you haven't settled on the job, tree cutting covers cutting a tree down or back. To take off one limb, ask for tree limb removal. A weak limb or trunk on a tree you want to keep is a job for cabling & bracing.
Crown work and shaping
These jobs change how the top of a tree looks and sits. Crown thinning takes selected branches out of a dense crown while the tree keeps its size. Crown reduction cuts the canopy back so it fits its spot. Tree lacing opens a thick canopy so light and air move through. Tree shaping cuts a lopsided tree back to the outline you choose, and tree topping cuts the upper branches back hard to bring the height down. The owner loves giving trees proper care and doesn't believe in butchering them, so talk through shaping or topping by phone first.
Tree removal
When a tree has to come out, start with tree removal, which takes whole trees down. A tree that has died is dead tree removal. A leaning or hazardous one, before it lands on your roof or fence, is dangerous tree removal. Trees too big to treat as an everyday job fall under large tree removal. The owner once saved a family of parrots from a dying ash tree in La Crescenta, safely removing the baby birds and letting the owners contact animal rescue.
Emergency and storm work
Emergency tree service is urgent help when a limb or tree comes down on your house or car. Storm damage tree removal clears trees and limbs a storm brought down or left damaged. A tree that is already on the ground is fallen tree removal. Same day sometimes works, but it is never promised, and Sunday is closed. Call or text (626) 493-7629.
Stumps and roots
What stays in the ground after a tree comes down has its own jobs. Tree stump removal is stump work for the part of the tree that stays in the ground. Tree stump grinding grinds down the stump left behind after the tree is gone. Roots that need to come out of the ground are tree root removal.
Palms and other special trees
Some trees get their own page. Palm tree trimming is trimming for palms, with a $500 minimum, and palm tree removal takes a palm out for good. Fruit tree pruning cuts fruit trees back so they stay healthy and keep their shape. An oak you want to keep belongs under oak tree trimming. If your tree is not one of these, ask by phone.
Hedges and shrubs
If a hedge has gone shaggy, start with hedge trimming, which cuts it back to an even line. Shrub trimming cuts overgrown shrubs back from windows and fences. When a hedge or shrub is dead or unwanted, hedge & shrub removal takes it out, from a $500 minimum.
Clearing and fire safety
Brush clearance cuts overgrown brush back so the ground on your property is open again. Fire safety tree trimming is tree trimming done with fire in mind, for homes and commercial properties across the San Gabriel Valley. Bigger ground is lot & hillside clearing, which clears whole lots and slopes from a $500 minimum.
Debris and chipping
Tree debris removal clears branches and cuttings from your yard or driveway. Wood chipping is a chipper on a truck for the pile of cut branches sitting in your yard. The truck is a white chip truck with a white chip box and a yellow wood chipper. On one busy day the owner finished a San Dimas job around 11:30, then worked a Pasadena job from 12:30 to 6:30, with a lot of trash and both jobs done safely and properly.
Homes and commercial properties
Two pages sort the work by who is calling. Residential tree service is tree work at your house, from a trim over the roof to a full removal. Commercial tree service is tree work for a property you manage, with a set estimate date. It is a father and son business, and they speak Spanish.
What they don't do
There is one firm limit. They don't work in the rain, with one exception for an emergency call. Only the work in the groups above is offered, so for a job that isn't listed here, ask by phone.
