Empire Tree Care takes down trees that have died, in Arcadia and across the San Gabriel Valley. The whole tree comes out, from standing to down. That sets it apart from tree trimming & pruning, where a living tree stays and gets worked on. A dead tree is not coming back, so the one decision left is when it goes. Call or text (626) 493-7629 to start.

A healthy tree that you simply want gone is tree removal. A tree that has already dropped is fallen tree removal. When only one limb is dead on a tree that lives, tree limb removal is the closer job. A dead palm has its own page, palm tree removal. A dead tree that is still standing is the case on this page, whatever its size.

This page is for a tree you already believe has died. If you can't tell whether a tree is dead or only struggling, say so on the phone and describe what you see. Give a guess at the height. Say where it stands in the yard and what is close by, such as a house or a neighbor's lot. That is enough to start the conversation, and the estimate visit is booked from it.

What counts as a dead tree removal job?

A dead tree removal job is taking down a tree that has died, the whole tree from standing to down. If you only want part of it gone, that is tree limb removal. If a stump is left in the ground afterward, that is tree stump removal or tree stump grinding, and neither one is the job on this page. A dead tree can also be one that worries you. Dangerous tree removal is the page for a tree you consider a threat, and the two overlap.

Signs worth describing on the call are bare branches while the neighbors' trees are full, and bark coming away from the trunk. Dead wood dries out and turns brittle over time, so twigs that snap dry are worth a mention too. You do not have to name the cause. You only have to say what you see, and the job is booked from there.

What should you say about the tree when you call?

Start with where it stands and what is near it. Name the type of tree if you know it, such as an ash or a pine. A tree beside a roofline is a different conversation from one in the middle of a lawn, and you are the one who can see the difference. Say how long it has looked this way. If you also want the stump dealt with, mention it, since it is a separate job.

Say if anything lives in it. One job in La Crescenta had a family of parrots in an ash tree that was dying. The owner safely removed the baby birds and left it to the owners to contact animal rescue. If you have noticed nests or birds in a dead tree, mention it on the call.

How much does dead tree removal cost?

The minimum for dead tree removal is $500. Your number comes out of a call or text plus the estimate visit, and a photo has no part in it. Once it is given, the work starting changes nothing about it.

Ask for the number before you agree to the date. Payment can be cash, credit or debit card, Zelle or check. People most often ask whether the job can be done today and whether it can be done cheaper. On the first, same day is sometimes. On the second, how tree work gets priced in Arcadia explains how a quote comes together.

Can a dead tree come down in the rain?

No. Rain rules out the job, and a dead tree is a job. Only an emergency changes that, when branches have come down onto a house or on a car and have to be taken away. A dead tree still standing in your yard is not that call, even in a storm, and neither is a dead limb hanging in the crown.

If branches from your tree are already on the roof or on the car, say so on the phone, since that is the call the exception covers. The emergency tree service page describes it. Monday through Saturday the hours are 6 AM to 9 PM, with Sunday closed. Nothing is promised for a closed day.

How does a dead tree removal visit go?

The first step is your call or text. The estimate gets a day and time, and the quote comes from that visit. Next they show up and do the job, and then you take the walk-through with them. An invoice is given at the end. A text tells you when they are on the way. Texting works as well as calling, and the same number takes both.

The work is guaranteed clean and safe, and damage to your property is fixed as soon as possible. Timing is a fair question for the first call. The honest answer to can you do it today is same day sometimes, and never a promise. If you would rather write first, the email is empiretreecarecorp@gmail.com.

Does the work reach outside Arcadia?

Yes. Empire Tree Care is based in Arcadia and works the whole San Gabriel Valley, and the owner drives up to 45 miles for a job. The owner has worked in the area around Pasadena and La Cañada, and near Pasadena City College.

Pasadena, Altadena, Monrovia and Sierra Madre all have pages here, and the service area page listing every town shows the rest. A dead tree does not have to be near one of those. Give your street and town when you call, and name the side of the lot the tree stands on. If your town is not on the list, the 45 miles from Arcadia may still reach it.

How the price works

Call or text (626) 493-7629. Empire Tree Care gets back to you about the work. The number doesn't change once the work starts. Jobs start at $500. More on how pricing works.

Where Empire Tree Care does this

All of the San Gabriel Valley. For a dead parkway tree in Alhambra, the city says it will inspect dead or diseased parkway trees on request and leaves city-owned tree work to Public Works. See every town Empire Tree Care covers for dead tree removal.

How much does dead tree removal cost?
The minimum is $500, and a quote does not come from a photo. Call or text (626) 493-7629 and describe the tree.
Can you remove a dead tree today?
Sometimes, though same day is never promised. Ask when you call.
Will the price change after the work starts?
No. Once the work starts, the quoted number is locked in.
Do you take down dead trees when it's raining?
No. Rain rules the job out. The one thing that changes that is an emergency with branches that have come down onto a house or on a car.
How is dead tree removal different from tree removal?
Dead tree removal is for a tree that has died. Tree removal covers a living tree that you want gone.
